Virginia Handbell Consort is actively seeking a qualified and talented individual to serve as Musical Director.

The Musical Director:

• reports to the President of the executive board of VHC;
• selects all music for the current and next concert season, and arranges said music into a musical program;
• is responsible for running auditions and selecting ringers;
• conducts all concerts and rehearsals
• works with the Vice President to select and make contacts for concerts;
• is responsible for recommending instruments and equipment for purchase;
• contracts clinicians to improve skills and techniques of the ensemble;
• is paid a monthly stipend

VHC is excited to announce that our newest instruments have arrived! These additional bass bells, A2 and B2, bring our "low bass" collection to a total of four bells (G2, A2, A#2, B2).

These bells weight about 9 pounds each, with a diameter of nearly a foot! Since they are extremely rare among handbell ensembles, each bell is custom made over a three month process. The acquisition of these invaluable instruments is made possible by grants from the Newport News and Hampton Arts Commissions, through the support of our concert venues, and by audience members like you. We are grateful to all who have continued to express an interest in our exciting program.

The Virginia Handbell Consort has released its upcoming Spring and Holiday concert schedules. This year, VHC will be traveling to Marlinton West Virginia, performing along the way in Harrisonburg and Lynchburg, Virginia. A busy Holiday season finds us performing across the Hampton Roads area in both familiar and exciting new venues.
